Lake Bluno is currently being flooded and lies partly within a restriction zone. The lake will replace the decommissioned Nordschlauch pit of the Spreetal lignite mine. Lake Bluno is still in the process of being flooded. Plans for the lake include canal links to nearby Lake Partwitz, Lake Neuwiese and Lake Sabrodt.
The northern shore of the lake offers ideal conditions for further tourism development, because the ground and vegetation here have remained largely untouched and because the area benefits from good transport links. The lake is currently undergoing landscape planning as a priority area for recreational use. The southern shore will be reserved for nature conservation. The overall intention is to maintain the relatively quiet character of the lake and reflect this in its use for tourism.
Cyclists can use a surfaced lakeside path along the northern shore to explore the lake.
Lake Bluno cannot be used for tourism purposes at present because access to large parts of the area has been restricted.
