First Stage “Lower Lusatian Mining Tour”: Senftenberg - Plessa
You reach Plessa via Schwarzheide and Ruhland. At the Plessa adventure power station, you can experience the "path of coal" and learn how lignite was converted into electricity here in the 1920s. From Plessa, you cycle past the Grünewalder Lauch to Grünewalde through the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature park. The stage destination is Lauchhammer - the town of art casting with its bio-towers and art casting museum. As an industrial monument with two glass viewing platforms, the bio-towers offer extraordinary perspectives. They are the only remaining part of a huge coking plant.
