Wolkenberg Wine
Where the village of Wolkenberg once stood, on the edge of the Welzow surface mine, numerous types of grape now grow on around 26,000 vines. From the mountain there is a wonderful view of the vineyard and its southern slope. Seven grape varieties grow here under optimal conditions. The orientation, inclination and optimal soil conditions make the wine uniquely palatable.
Five white-wine varieties are grown: Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Kernlig, Schönburger and Red Riesling. The red Cabernet Dorsa and the Rondo round off the selection.
Tastings take place at Gut Geisenforf near Neupetershain, as well as on the vineyard itself. The wine can be purchased from the mining tourism association in Welzow, in the online shop, and at the winery.
