On to new banks – a different water sports region!
In the Lusatian Lakeland sailing is a very important activity. As an outstanding sailing district the Senftenberger See is well known for years. The aquatic sports centre offers a complete service for recreational captains: berth places for boats, sailing courses and boat hire service as well as a swing crane (derrick) and a ship construction for the boats to get into the water.
The water tourist infrastructure for sail sportsmen continues to grow in the Lusatian Lakeland from year to year. The aquatic sports centre of the Geierswalder See also offers a water-lay-by with 50 berth-places for boats. At the Bärwalder See a marina with 98 berth-places is situated at the moment. For many sail sportsmen from far and wide the lake lands of Lusatia are already well known. In The last years some top-class sailing regattas have contributed to make the new water sports region well known in Lusatia. Above all the Geierswalder See has established itself in the German championships in the boats classification “Ixylon” and “Cadet” as well as the annually sail week.
Who discovered the wet element for itself, is able to attain the sport boat driving licence in the Lusatian Lakeland. You can find sport boat schools at the Geierswalder See, Knappensee, Bärwalder See and Senftenberger See.
The region becomes also interesting for water hikers in the future. In the next years 10 lakes and 7.000 hectares of water surface become a navigable connection. To get through the locks-, bridges and tunnels a putting construction is compelling necessary for masts of sailing boats.
